Confirmation

Hello Future Penguin,

Thank you for registering for YSU Crash Day! We are excited to spend the day with you on our beautiful campus learning about what our campus has to offer you academically and socially. This serves as your official confirmation.

Where do I go? The event will take place on Monday, February 20, 2017, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. You and your guests should arrive at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) by 9:00 a.m. to check-in and begin your day at YSU. Once parked, please make your way to the 4th floor of the deck and take the walking bridge over into the core of campus. From there, please follow the neon yellow "Visit Day Registration" signs to the WATTS.

We will also have shuttles available the morning of the event to deliver participants from the parking deck to the WATTS. Shuttle pickup will be located at the Walnut Street entrance of the deck (the entrance you will use to enter the deck) from 8:00 - 10:15 AM.

Early arrivals: If you would like to get a head start on your day, plan to arrive at WATTS beginning at 8:30 a.m. to meet President Tressel and take a picture with Pete the Penguin.

We have reserved the M30 Parking Deck (free of charge) for YSU Crash Day participants; please park there.

What will I do? We have several informative and entertaining activities planned for YSU Crash Day, including the opportunity to crash classes in a variety of disciplines, to explore our athletic and recreational facilities, to tour campus and explore a variety of student activities at YSU. You will be all over campus during your visit, at indoor and outdoor venues. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes! A copy of the Crash Day agenda will be available soon on the Crash Day web site at crash.ysu.edu!

What do I need to bring? Don’t worry about bringing money for parking or lunch – it’s our treat! That’s right, free parking in the M30 lot and lunch with one of our six academic colleges will be served to you free of charge. Even your access to the Andrews Recreation and Wellness Center is on us!

In general, you should bring a driver’s license or another form of identification. You should also bring extra clothes if you would like to use our Rec Center later during the day. Let’s explain – appropriate dress is required for personal safety and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Lockers and locks are available at no cost to store personal belongings while using the Rec Center. Your clothes should meet the following standards in order to use the facility:

• Closed-toe, rubber-soled athletic footwear (tennis shoes) required – no boots, flip flops, sandals, open-toe, or “croc” type shoes are permitted.
• Clothing free of buttons, rivets, zippers, metal studs and/or snaps, are required in the strength and conditioning area, sports forum, racquetball court and aerobics studio.
• Full-sleeved tee-shirts are required in the strength area.  No tank tops or cut offs are permitted.
• No midriff, sports bras, or overly revealing shorts allowed in activity spaces.
• Street clothes are prohibited in the strength and conditioning area, sports forum, racquetball courts and aerobics studio.

If you are attending without your parent/guardian and are under the age of 18, you will need to complete the forms available on the Crash Day web site. Fill out the forms and bring them with you to Crash Day (we will also have them at check-in for you to review and sign). Please note: Those under the age of sixteen must stay with a parent/guardian when in the facility and are not permitted to use the strength and conditioning equipment.
