YSU Flute Day

The Dana School of Music is excited to host YSU Flute Day on Saturday, March 28 in Bliss Recital Hall. The event takes place from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm (9:00 am for registered members of the High School Honors Flute Ensemble). Admission is free and open to the public

Special 2020 Features: 

High School Honors Side-by-Side Flute Ensemble - High school students interested in participating in the Honors Flute Ensemble, please register at ysu.edu/music by March 21, to receive music for the event. 

Guest Artist – Janet Arms, Senior Artist Teacher, The Hartt School of Music and Flutist with New York City Opera Orchestra – will present recital, masterclass and orchestral excerpts workshop.

YSU Faculty – Kathryn Umble, Professor of Flute, Dana School of Music, Youngstown State University – will present recital, workshop on practicing techniques  and conduct the High School Honors Flute Ensemble. 

Schedule of Events

  9:00 am – Rehearsal for Members of the High School Honors Flute Ensemble

10:00 am – Registration opens

10:00 am – 4:00 pm Flute Specialists exhibit open!

10:30 am – YSU Faculty Artist, Kathryn Umble in Recital

11:00 am – Practicing Workshop with Kathryn Umble

12:00 pm – Performance of High School Honors Flute Ensemble

12:15 pm – Janet Arms Masterclass with YSU Flute Studio

  1:30 pm – Orchestral Excerpts/Audition Success Workshop with Janet Arms

  3:00 pm – Guest Artist, Janet Arms in Recital 

Flute Specialists, a nationally respected flute distributor, will be exhibiting intermediate and professional flutes at the Flute Day. Parking will be available in the Wick Avenue Parking Deck (M30 on campus map), for $5.00 (cash) via the Wick Avenue entrance.
