Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has granted accreditation until March 31, 2023 to the following programs: Addiction Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Student Affairs & College Counseling.
Council for the Accreditation of Educator Prepartion (CAEP)
The Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences & Education’s educator preparation programs were reviewed by an onsite team in Spring 2017 and were granted accreditation by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, effective through 2024.
Youngstown State University education preparation programs, including teacher, principal, superintendent, school counselor, school nurse, and school psychologist licensure programs are approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. These programs are subject to the sections of the Ohio law and regulations governing teacher education and licensure. The Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences & Education serves as the recommending agent for all Youngstown State University graduates who wish to qualify for state of Ohio licensure.

National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD)
The art education program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), the national accrediting body for art schools.
National Association of Schools of Music (NASM)
The music education program, hosted by the Dana School of Music, is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the national accreditation body in the field of music.
The College's professional education programs, initial and advanced, are defined within a conceptual framework referred to as Reflection in Action. This translates into the following institutional standards and outcome statements:

Candidates exercise rational judgment and give thoughtful consideration to their professional activities and decisions.

Candidates exercise democratic fairness, principled concern, and humane care in their professional activities.

- Candidates demonstrate professional, collaborative, and inclusive dispositions both in their field placements and within their courses.
- Candidates foster inclusive environments, and respect the backgrounds of and beliefs held by their students or clients.
- Candidates strive to meet the educational needs of all students or clients in a caring, non- discriminatory, and equitable manner.

Candidates think analytically in a deliberately consistent and rationally defensible manner.

Candidates use professional knowledge, objectively applying it to their own professional actions and the professional actions of others to the benefit of their students and clients.

- Candidates assess the needs for professional development and actively engage in professional activities to expand their knowledge, experiences and relationships.
R7: Reflective practice is Technical.
Candidates attend to procedural details and optimize the use of technologies appropriate to professional practice.
Outcomes:
- Candidates effectively and appropriately integrate various technologies into their work as teachers, counselors and administrators to maximize P-12 student learning.
- Candidates use technology to enhance their own professional development.
