Instructions for Virtual Backgrounds


Zoom is now available for faculty, staff, and students. Click Zoom or navigate to and select Sign In. It will automatically log you into your account. If you access zoom using the Zoom desktop application, the Zoom mobile device application, or

  1. Click Sign In and select "Sign In with SSO."
  2. Enter ysu-edu if it ask for the company domain, (note that depending on the application or operating system, it may ask for the company domain or your company email address).
  3. Enter your YSU email address and your YSU username and password.

If you  currently have a Zoom account, paid or free, that was established using your YSU email address, you will need to roll your account into  YSU's plan or provide an alternate email address for the account.   


  1. Select Refund Me if paid with a YSU Procurment Card or a  personal card.
  2. Click Continue.
  3. You will receive a notification that the account is being switched.
  4. If the account is a free account you will receive a notification that the account is being consolidated.


  1. Enter the new email address.
  2. Confirm email address.
  3. Click save.
  4. Reset account password.

Adding Virtual Background

  • Click on the background of your choice (above) and save the larger image to your computer.
  • Open your "Zoom Desktop Client" and navigate to your "Settings" screen (i.e., from left navigation menu).
  • Scroll down to the "Virtual Background" heading and select the "Manage virtual background" link.
  • Add the background you downloaded from this page.
  • Note: if using the Zoom Desktop Client, select Settings then Background & Filers (i.e., left nav menu). Select the +sign, then Add Image (i.e., from menu),
