YSU Penguin Email Services for Life is Ending

As cybersecurity threats continue to escalate globally and technology costs increase, Youngstown State University has made the decision to phase out email accounts for former students, alumni, and retirees including those with emeritus status that have @student.ysu.edu or ysu.edu email addresses. This is being done to further safeguard our institution's digital environment and unfortunately is becoming the standard in higher education.

Former Students, Alumni, and Retirees access will end on July 1, 2025

What Do You Need To Do

  1. Create a new primary email account using reputable services such as:
    1. Outlook
    2. iCloud
    3. Gmail
    4. Yahoo
    5. Proton Mail
  2. Update your personal and professional contacts to begin using your new email address.
  3. Adjust any financial accounts, retail, online shopping platforms, or social media accounts that use your @student.ysu.edu or @ysu.edu to your new primary email account.

To avoid the disruption of any of your communications, we strongly encourage you to begin making these changes well before July 1, 2025, as account deletion will begin on that day.
