Wednesday evening event:

Where: YSU Stadium Club

Join us for an evening of fantastic Youngstown food! We will open the evening event with a keynote delivered by Nicole Engelbert the vice president of higher education development at Oracle. Following her insightful view into higher education trends we will be sampling some of the uniquely famous foods of Youngstown including the Youngstown cookie table, a staple at all Youngstown weddings. Take a look at the menu below for a small idea of the wonderful culinary delights awaiting you along with beer and wine.

The cookie table tradition:

The tradition is unique to Youngstown and may from outside of NE Ohio have never had the delight of experiencing the cookie table. As Youngstown was built on immigrant communities some of the baking traditions followed these individuals as they settled in Youngstown. In contrast to spending large amounts of money on ornate wedding cakes many of those immigrant families began to provide eclectic displays of cookies representative of their own baking traditions. This tradition carries on today as witnessed by all in attendance to weddings. While no one will be getting married we still plan on sharing hundreds of these unique treats with you.

Wednesday evening menu:

Station I

  • Skewered Pan Fried Potato Pirogies with an Onion Jam
  • Mini Corned Beef Sandwich with Cole Slaw and Swiss Cheese
  • Skewered BBQ Kielbasi
  • Homemade Potato Chips

Station II

  • Panko Encrusted Fried Cheese with our Homemade Tomato Sauce
  • Assorted Hand Made Pizzas including the Classic Briar Hill Pizza
  • Homemade Wedding Soup (served in Irish Coffee Mugs with a Handle so guest's can easily carry)
  • Ripe Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella resting on Crustini drizzled with Balsamic Reduction and Fresh Basil
  • Smoked Chicken Breast wrapped in Pancetta, set on Pesto Sauce

Station III

  • Petite Redskin Potatoes filled with Double Smoked Bacon, Melted Cojack Cheese with a Dollop of Fresh Chive Sour Cream
  • Mini Chop Steak Sliders
  • Mini Smoked Brisket Sliders with Creamy Horseradish
    • *both paired with Hand Made Mini Rolls
  • Condiment Tray: Crisp Lettuce, Ripe Tomatoes, Sliced Cheese, Pickle Spear
  • Classic Caesar Salad with our Hand Made Dressing in Mini Cups

Wednesday afterhours event:

Where: Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts

What does Spaghettio-s, marshmallow cream and crickets have in common? You can get them all on a hotdog at Suzie’s. Not that adventurous? No problem we will have mustard and ketchup as well. Join us for afterhours drinks and a sampling of some of these unique toppings along with a DJ and karaoke. It is sure to be a good time. Not to worry this event will be closed to OHECC attendees only so feel free to have fun as you are in good company. First two drinks are on us.

Thursday evening event:

Where: Austintown – Hollywood Gaming

Feeling lucky? Even if you’re not a gambler you’ll be a winner at the BBQ buffet dinner! We will also have a pasta bar available for those looking to expand beyond the BBQ dinner. Following this smoked meat extravaganza, you will be on your own to enjoy the gaming floor or listen to the live band in main lounge. As usual the first two rounds are on us.
