Shipka lecture explores risks and impact of technology
Wendell Wallach, a consultant, ethicist and scholar at Yale University's Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, presents “How to Keep Technology from Slipping Beyond Our Control” 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.
The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Dr. Thomas and Albert Shipka Speaker Series and is presented by the YSU Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Wallach, an internationally recognized expert on the ethical and governance concerns posed by emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and neuroscience, explores how society can minimize the risks and societal impact of specific areas of research, and of the overall trajectory of scientific innovation through ethics, engineering and oversight.
