YSU answers call to serve as Second Harvest unveils expansion

IMG_4267.pngYSU students, staff, and leadership spent a portion of Saturday packing food together for those in need at Second Harvest Food Bank.

President Bill Johnson and First Lady LeeAnn Johnson were among those who packed thousands of pears into smaller bags that could be used for distribution to local seniors. The volunteers packed a total of 970 bags of the produce during their time together.

Plans are also underway to create a regular YSU packing day at Second Harvest Food Bank each month.

“We are grateful to the YSU team for volunteering with Second Harvest to support their mission to provide food to those in need,” said Amy Cossentino, associate provost and dean of the Sokolov Honors College.

The YSU group volunteered on the same day that Second Harvest unveiled its new addition that will allow the organization to better meet the needs of the community.
