YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium co-hosting solar eclipse viewing
YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium will be co-hosting a total solar eclipse viewing on April 8, at Foxconn EV System. Gates will open for entry at 1 p.m. and the event will conclude at 4 p.m. (No early entry will be permitted.)
Located at 2300 Hallock Young Road SW, Lordstown, Ohio 44481, the Foxconn location will experience the total solar eclipse. Totality will last approximately 1 and a half minutes and is expected to begin at 3:15 p.m.
Telescopes with solar filters will be set up and operated by the YSU Physics and Astronomy/Ward Beecher Planetarium faculty and staff members. Eclipse glasses will be provided, but are limited so viewers are encouraged to bring their own. Please remember to view at your own risk, eye protection must be worn to view the sun before and after totality.
For those interested, YSU Society of Physics Students will have eclipse glasses for sale in the PAGES office located in Ward Beecher Hall, Room 2023 on Monday, April 1 until Thursday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Glasses are $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00, cash only.
Viewers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and food/refreshments to the event, as these will not be provided during the event.
Entrance to the event will be at the parking lot located in front of the Foxconn building, security will be present to assist with parking and viewing.
