Bio
Dr. Marculetiu brings a dynamic, real-world approach to the classroom, emphasizing experiential and applied learning grounded in holistic decision-making, live data, and current events. With over a decade of experience in teaching various subjects (operations and supply chain management, analytics, finance, project management, and data analysis) while using multiple tools (Microsoft Excel, Access, Power BI, Tableau, etc.), Dr. Marculetiu empowers students to become cross-functional problem-solvers who think beyond silos.
Alina routinely integrates new stories, industry cases, and relatable analogies to help students see business decisions’ practical value and interconnected nature. Her teaching of advanced courses guides students through the full range of problem-solving, from gathering raw data from primary sources to cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting it in the current business context, which includes uncertainty, policy shifts, and global developments.
Dr. Marculetiu’s dedication to high-impact, hands-on teaching and learning has earned her multiple honors, including the Distinguished Professor in Teaching Award (YSU), Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award (CSU), and Doctoral Excellence in Teaching Award (CSU). She collaborates with companies to create immersive classroom experiences, co-authoring a company-based teaching case study to connect students with real-world decision-making.
Dr. Marculetiu remains active in the professional community through her involvement in the Decision Sciences Institute, Midwest Decision Sciences regional chapter (as VP of Member Services), and the Institute for Supply Management. Her research explores how firms navigate supply chain uncertainty, institutional pressures, and stakeholder expectations. Her work was featured as one of the most cited papers in the Journal of Business Logistics for two consecutive years, underscoring its relevance to academic and practitioner audiences. In her research, Dr. Marculetiu incorporates field interviews, survey research, and real-time data analysis to generate theoretically grounded and managerially actionable insights.
