YSU Marching Pride students are eligible for a Marching Band Housing Excellence Award valuing up to $2,000 ($1,000/semester) and renewable once (for up to $2,000). The Marching Band Housing Excellence Award may only be combined with the need-based University Housing Grant. For additional information, please see notes below.
Requirements: At least a 3.0 HS GPA*, and ACT score of 18 or SAT of 910. *See notes at bottom of page.
Expectations for maintaining Housing Excellence Award
Fall semester
- Attend all performances including playoff games and national title game
- Volunteer for at least 2 recruitment events
- Maintain good standing with YSU and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Spring semester
- Perform in the concert band, jazz ensemble, or wind ensemble and meet all requirements outlined in the syllabus
- Volunteer for at least 2 recruitment events
- Color guard and majorette members must attend scheduled rehearsals, performances, and workshops
- Maintain good standing with YSU and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Failure to meet these requirements will result in the loss of the Housing Excellence Award.
*Notes:
- Except for the need-based University Housing Grant, Marching Band Housing Excellence Awards may not be combined with other housing awards (e.g., an Honors College Housing Excellence Award may not combined with a Marching Band Housing Excellence Award)
- Eligible students should apply for housing and pay deposit as soon as possible (the deposit is 100% refundable until May 1)
- Marching Band Housing Excellence Awards are available on a first-come, first-served basis
- Awards are applicable to university-owned housing only, including Courtyard Apartments
