School Psychology students earn 100% passage rate for sixth straight year
Imagine getting your report card, and the only grade is this: 100%.
Now imagine you get that same grade for six years in a row!
That’s what it must feel like for Richard VanVoorhis, associate professor and director of Youngstown State University’s Educational Specialist in School Psychology program.
All of the nine students in this year’s Ed. S. School Psychology program at YSU passed the Praxis II National Exam in School Psychology on the first attempt – a 100 percent first time passage rate. They are Miranda Avnet, Sarah Bolina, Mackenzi Brozovich, Chelsea Burley, Jenna DiRienzo, David Makara, Rachel Mazzi, Kristen Osiniak and Amy Vinopal.
It’s the sixth consecutive year that YSU School Psychology graduates – totaling 57 students – have passed the exam the first time out, dating to 2015.
“Kudos to our candidates, the faculty and for the support that makes this good news possible,” VanVoorhis said.
Not only did all 2020 graduates pass, they passed with flying colors – 26 points higher than what is required for national certification/state licensure in School Psychology.
