Faun Williams began working for YSU in 2012 as a temporary secretary in the Department of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, later advancing to an intermittent position in the Office of Degree Audit. After three years, Williams decided she would rather be working more within the lives of students, so she now works as an office assistant in the Office of Housing and Residence Life in Kilcawley Center.
In her position, Williams answers questions for students deciding to live on campus, and makes sure that all students living in residence halls are in compliance with housing policies. She assists the administrative assistant, director and associate directors to ensure that students living on campus have the best student life experience possible.
“It only takes one person to lift someone to the next level in life, and I want to be that person for as many people as possible,” she said. “Working in an area that is heavily populated with students, you have the opportunity to connect and once you make that connection you can hopefully have a positive impact.”
After receiving an associate degree in Applied Business from YSU in 1986
, Williams worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Surgery at Northside Hospital for 15 years before coming to YSU.
Williams’ determination to help others shines through even when it comes to her personal life. She is a licensed evangelist through the Churches of God in Christ and the founder and president of FEW Ministries. She enjoys spending time with her two children and granddaughter. She is also an avid couponer and loves to bake.
