Prof lectures on "What does it mean to be Hispanic?"

Edris Montalvo, associate professor of Geography at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla., will give a talk entitled, "What Does It Mean To Be Hispanic Anyway? Why Who We Are Matters,” 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21 in the Jones Room of Kilcawley Center on the Youngstown State University campus. The talk is hosted by the YSU Department of Geography and the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The talk is also part of YSU's Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Montalvo earned a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s in Geography and Ph.D. in Geography, all from Texas State University. His dissertation was on the recruitment and retention of Hispanic and African-American undergraduate students in public, four-year postsecondary institutions in the U.S., 2000-2006.
