80th YSU Press Day Oct. 15 on campus
Youngstown State University Press Day marks its 80th anniversary on Monday, Oct. 15, with a variety of activities involving more than 25 journalists, media professionals and educators from across Northeast Ohio.
More than 300 middle and high school students and advisers from nearly 30 schools are expected to attend the event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. Press Day is presented by YSU's Anderson Program in Journalism in the Department of Communication.
Keynote speaker is veteran Northeast Ohio sports journalist and YSU alum David Lee Morgan, who is bringing his student media class from Massillon, Ohio.
New this year is an alumni lunch and networking event featuring YSU President Jim Tressel, numerous YSU faculty and staff members, including more than 50 area alumni who will share what they have learned about doing great journalism since their days at YSU.
“We believe this event will honor the original intentions of those who created Press Day, and that it will be an exciting day filled with dynamic learning and networking opportunities for all attendees,” said Shelley Blundell, Press Day director.
