Steel Museum hosts Outreach Toolbox Workshop
How museums and other non-profit organizations can reach out to the community and promote their institutions is the topic of a workshop 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor on Wood Street.
The event is part of the Ohio History Connection’s Museum Education and Outreach ToolBox Workshop Series.
Marcelle Wilson, site manager of YHCIL and a part time faculty in the History Department at Youngstown State University, will present. Wilson, who earned a doctorate from West Virginia University, served for seven years as the director of the Aurora Historical Society in Aurora, Ohio. She has completed numerous grants and national property nominations. Her most recent publication is an article in Ohio History entitled “General Fireproofing Company of Youngstown, Ohio.”
The Toolbox Workshop is a one-year outreach program led by the Local History Corps District 4 representative through Ohio History Service Corps’ AmeriCorps program. The programs are free and open to the public.
