YSU's WCBA named PTAC site
Youngstown State University is the new host of the Ohio Procurement Technical Assistance Center.
The Center in the Williamson College of Business Administration will work in conjunction with the Ohio Small Business Development Center and Export Assistance Network at YSU.
Under the direction of Joseph M. Scott, PTAC at YSU assists companies within the service area of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties and is part of the Statewide Ohio PTAC Network, which focuses on helping businesses with all government contracting needs at the federal, state and local levels. The PTAC at YSU offers guidance with business certifications, entity registrations, bid opportunity research, capability statement preparation, and other pre- and post-award assistance.
In addition, the Center’s collaboration with WCBA allows YSU students to gain valuable experience in the government procurement process. Beeghly Fellow Interns will have the opportunity to assist the PTAC at YSU with client projects, including market research, capability statements, state award identification assistance and specialized government procurement research. In 2019, efforts by the PTAC helped area companies acquire nearly $18 million in government contracts.
In the near future, a new PTAC website will allow companies to keep up with the latest changes in government procurement, access online resources, schedule meetings with the Center, register for workshops and events, and provide connections to information from the Ohio PTAC network.
PTAC at YSU is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, the Ohio Development Services Agency and YSU through WCBA. Companies interested in government contracting and utilizing the PTAC services can call 330-941-2140, or register as a new client online.
