This Week at YSU, Oct. 31, 2016

Tuesday, Nov. 1, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. YSU’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and Williamson College of Business Administration host the Believe in Ohio Commercialization and Entrepreneurship STEM Forum in Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. YSU is one of twelve Ohio colleges and universities hosting this program this fall. The event is open to Ohio high school and middle school students.

Tuesday, Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m. The Dana School of Music Guitar Studio, directed by Francois Fowler, presents a recital in Bliss Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, Nov. 2, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music’s Clarinet Studio performs a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, Nov. 2, 5:10 p.m. Lecture, video and panel talk, as well as student critiques, by Canadian artist Nicole Burisch at the McDonough Museum of Art. The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the YSU Department of Art:

Thursday, Nov. 3, 12:30 p.m. Davi´d Carrasco, the Neil L. Rudenstine Professor of the Study of Latin America at the Harvard Divinity School, presents “Mexico’s Sacred Migrant: The Virgin of Guadalupe as Image and Immigrant” in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Dr. Thomas and Albert Shipka Speaker Series and is presented by the YSU Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies.

Thursday, Nov. 3, 7:30 p.m. “From Russia With Love,” a concert celebrating five significant Russian composers, will be performed by the YSU Symphony Orchestra in Stambaugh Auditorium.

Friday, Nov. 4, 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Williamson College of Business Administration hosts the 20th Annual Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day in the Conference Center of Williamson Hall. The event includes YSU business students as well as accounting and finance students from nearby colleges.

Friday, Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m. French guitarist Thibaut Garcia, winner of the 2015 Guitar Foundation of America International Classical Guitar Competition, performs in Bliss Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.  Garcia conducts a master class, also in Bliss Recital Hall, 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

Saturday, Nov. 5, 11 p.m. YSU women’s basketball holds an open-to-the-public scrimmage in Beeghly Center.
