About 300 high school journalists and newspaper advisors from throughout the region participate in YSU Press Day in Kilcawley Center.

Annual Octubafest Tuba/Euphonium Recital in Bliss Recital Hall.

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 12:15 p.m. The YSU Dana School of Music Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble presents a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m. “Sustainability, Energy and the Environment,” a lecture by Maren Cooke, Group Against Smog and Pollution, Pittsburgh, is presented in Cushwa Hall Room B100 as part of the YSU Speaker Series on Energy and the Environment. Free.

Wednesday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m. Detroit comes to YSU’s Farmers National Bank Field to play the Penguins in a Horizon League soccer match. The Penguins face UIC at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, also at the home field.

Thursday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m. Press conference in the Jones Room of Kilcawley Center to announce the “Empowerment: Catalyst for Change” seminar that will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, featuring David Anderson, founder of the Empowerment Radio Network.

Friday, Oct. 23, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students in YSU’s Williamson College of Business Administration interview for internships with area employers as part of the Fall 2015 WCBA Internship Interview Day. The interviews take place in Williamson Hall at YSU.

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23 and 24, 8 p.m. YSU’s Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Nightlights.” The planetarium also presents “The Halloween Show” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 25, 26 and 27. The YSU Board of Trustees meets in a retreat at the Lodge at Geneva–on-the-Lake in Geneva, Ohio.
