Marching Pride set to kick off 2019-20

Youngstown State University’s Marching Pride hosts several events to kick off the new academic year:

Saturday, Aug. 17, 9 to 11:30 a.m. in Beeghly Center, a workshop for “Penguinette for a Day”. The event is aimed at students in grades K through 12. The public performance for those in grades K-6 will be during the Meet the Marching Pride event on Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m., while the public performance for those in grades 7-12 will be on Saturday, Sept. 14, at halftime of the YSU football game. Saturday, Aug. 24, noon to 2:30 p.m. in Beeghly Center, a workshop for “Color Guard for a Day” for students in grades 7-12, culminating with a public performance on Saturday, Sept. 14 at halftime of the YSU football game. Free. Advance registration mandatory at www.ysubands.org.

Saturday, Aug. 24, 7:30 p.m. in Stambaugh Stadium. “Meet the Marching Pride”. The event is free and open to the public; a donation of a non-perishable food item or personal hygiene product will be accepted for the YSU Student Government pantry. Patrons will be treated to a preview of the music the Pride will perform during Penguin football games this fall.

Saturday, Sept. 7, Dana Marching Pride alumni are invited to participate in an alumni marching band performance during halftime of the YSU football game in advance of the Dana Alumni Reunion scheduled for later that evening at the DeYor Performing Arts Center.

“The Marching Pride is ready for an exciting season, including special events that will bring people of all ages to campus,” said Brandt Payne, YSU director of Athletic Bands. “Our 170 marching band students and staff are eager to have the opportunity to represent YSU and Youngstown.”
