John J. McDonough Museum receives grant award from Ohio Arts Council Board

Youngstown State University’s Cliffe College of Creative Arts and John J. McDonough Museum of Art, have received a Sustainability Grant as part of the historic $22.7 million in Arts Grants approved by the Ohio Arts Council Board (OAC).

The McDonough Museum of Art has received a $12,200 grant for the fiscal year 2025, in which the OAC, a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically, describes as, “flexible and reliable funding and supports a wide range of the state's arts providers as they make high-quality artistic experiences available to residents and visitors, positioning Ohio as a national leader in creativity, artistry, and cultural wealth.”

With the John J. McDonough Museum in its 33rd year as an arts institution, the OAC has played a vital role in its operation. The funding granted from OAC allows the Museum to better support programs such as the Emerging Artist series, a series established to create opportunities for new and emerging visual and performing/performance artists. The funding also allows the museum to create collaborative, community-based programs.

“We are proud to invest such a significant amount of funding in Ohio communities and contribute to our state’s cultural vitality and importance,” said OAC Executive Director Donna S. Collins.
