Carols and Cocoa and Dana Holiday Concert return to Stambaugh Auditorium

Youngstown State University's Cliffe College of Create Arts Dana School of Music ensembles will fill Stambaugh Auditorium with seasonal sounds on Wednesday, December 6 for Carols and Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert. The concert is a Youngstown State University tradition that dates back more than 40 years and involves most of the vocal and instrumental music students at Dana.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with carols in the Jeanne D. Tyler Grand Ballroom at Stambaugh Auditorium. Cocoa will be available in the concert hall lobby during intermission as the audience moves from the ballroom to the concert hall for the Dana Holiday Concert.

Featuring performances by the Dana School of Music ensembles, the concert ushers in the holiday season with an enchanting blend of musical artistry. Participating ensembles include the YSU Trombone Ensemble, YSU Flute Ensemble, Dana Clarinet Ensemble, Brass Quintet, YSU Jazz Ensemble, Voices of YSU, Dana Chorale, Dana String Orchestra and Dana Symphony Orchestra.

The Holiday Concert program will feature a diverse selection of holiday favorites performed by individual ensembles, culminating in the grand finale—a choral-orchestral rendition of "Many Moods of Christmas" arranged by Robert Shaw and R. R. Bennett. The Dana Symphony Orchestra and Dana Festival Symphonic Chorus will bring this spectacular piece to life, including all choral ensembles.

This year will welcome three outstanding local ensembles: the Hickory High School Chamber Singers, from the Hermitage School District; the Fitch High School Concert Choir; and the Stambaugh Chorus.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for seniors, YSU students, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Tickets are available online at stambaughauditorium.com and can be ordered by calling 330-259-9651.
