Campus exhibit invites you to, "Pick Your Poison"
A new exhibit from the National Library of Medicine called “Pick Your Poison: Intoxicating Pleasures and Medical Prescriptions” is on display in Cushwa Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University.
The free exhibit, presented in cooperation with the National Museum of American History, is in the atrium of Cushwa Hall through Oct. 27.
The six- banner traveling exhibition explores the factors that have shaped the changing definitions of some of the world’s most potent drugs, from tobacco to alcohol, marijuana, opium, and cocaine. Mind-altering drugs have been used throughout the history of America. While some remain socially acceptable, others are outlawed because of their toxic, and intoxicating, characteristics. These classifications have shifted at different times in history, and will continue to change.
