Business student accepted into BSBA to J.D. 3 + 3 program

Lainey MercureLainey Mercure, Business Law major in the Individualized Curriculum Program out of the Williamson College of Business Administration, has been accepted to the University of Akron Law School through the joint BSBA to J.D. 3 + 3 program.

The 3 + 3 program allows Mercure to earn both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and her Juris Doctor degree in six years instead of the usual seven, saving a full year of undergraduate study, tuition and living expenses. Mercure will have the opportunity to enter the field a year earlier than students following the traditional path, increasing her long-term earning potential and getting a head start on making a difference in her field.

Mercure started the BSBA program at YSU in 2022, completing her first three years of the business curriculum. After passing the Law School Admissions Test in January 2024 and completing undergraduate core business classes, she applied and was admitted to the University of Akron Law School beginning Fall semester 2024. She also received an invitation to be a part of the Akron Law Honors Scholars Program.

Mercure anticipates earning her BSBA from YSU in Spring of 2025 and will continue her studies at the University of Akron to receive her J.D. degree in Spring 2027.
