All-Alumni Reunion to be held during Homecoming Weekend

Alumni from around the country will make their way to YSU October 5 and 6 for the All-Alumni Reunion taking place during Homecoming 2018.

Friday, October 5

Downtown Spotlight, starting at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor (the Steel Museum), 151 W. Wood Street, 6:00 p.m.  Enjoy greetings from Kristine Blair, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and remarks on the revitalization of Youngstown from Donna DeBlasio, Professor of History. Light refreshments will be provided. Then waddle down Hazel Street and stop at some of downtown’s coolest spots.  Participating bars and restaurants will offer special deals as part of the Downtown Waddle. REGISTER

The Pipino Performing Arts Series presents ACRONYM - The Battle of Vienna, at the Deyor Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Founded and directed by Kivie Cahn-Lipman, assistant professor of Cello in the Dana School of Music, ACRONYM has been hailed as “an outstanding young early music string ensemble” (The New Yorker) that plays “with consummate style, grace, and unity of spirit” (NY Times). ACRONYM presents a concert of music commemorating The Battle of Vienna of 1683, a turning point in the centuries-long conflict between the Ottoman and the Holy Roman Empires. ACRONYM’s performance includes dueling choirs of strings and features H.I.F. Biber’s masterpiece Battalia, which depicts the drunken revelry of soldiers, a battle scene, and its tragic aftermath. Saturday, October 6

The All-Alumni Reunion Gathering will be held in the F55 lot at the corner of Fifth and Lincoln Avenues, next to the Beeghly College of Education. Campus tours will begin at noon with the Reunion tailgate lot opening at 2 p.m. for attendees to visit with their college and sample delicious food and drinks featuring local food trucks and local breweries. RDNA, a five piece band that plays music from the 1950's to now, will perform. The Homecoming parade will start at 4 p.m. with a special opportunity for alumni and friends who participated in the Guinness World Record event last year to wear their costumes and march in the parade. To participate, costumed Penguins should gather at the parade staging ground at 3:30 p.m. on Rayen Avenue across from Beeghly College of Education.

The Homecoming football game will kick-off at 6 p.m.
