65th Greek Sing set for April 8 at Stambaugh Auditorium
Youngstown State University fraternity and sorority students show off their singing and dancing talents at the annual Greek Sing, a musical variety show set for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue just north of campus.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free.
Greek Sing, which began in 1952, is the culmination of all YSU Greek activities for the academic year and will include group performances and open class performances. This year’s theme is “Alphabet Soup.”
The event features last year’s defending champs, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, singing a medley of selections from Justin Timberlake, Journey and James Brown, among others. Last year’s sorority champions, Zeta Tau Alpha, will feature songs by Lady Gaga, Lauren Alaina and La Roux, just to name a few.
Other chapters participating this year include fraternities Alpha Phi Delta, Sigma Chi, Sigma Tau Gamma, Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Chi. Additionally, sorority performances will include Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Zeta.
In celebration of 65 years, the Greek System, in conjunction with the Office of Alumni Engagement, will host a pre-concert reception for alumni at 4:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and dessert in the Anne K. Christman Memorial Hall on the third level of Stambaugh Auditorium. Reservations can be made online at www.ysu.edu/alumni/greeksing or by calling Rita Kennehan at 330-941-3221.
