Athletic Training Program Admission Requirements

Master of Athletic Training

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution
    • Accelerated program applicants must show proof of completed coursework from an accredited institution by submitting unofficial transcripts (see below).
  • Minimum 3.00 GPA average (based on 4.0 scale) in all coursework taken for the bachelor degree
  • Complete the following prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of “C”:
    • Sports First Aid & Injury Prevention or equivalent (KSS 2605)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology I or Gross Anatomy (BIOL 1551/L or BIOL 3705)
    • Human Anatomy & Physiology II or Human Physiology (BIOL 1552/L or BIOL 3730)
    • General Biology I and Lab (BIOL 2601/L)
    • General Chemistry and Lab (CHEM 1515/L)
    • Physics I and Lab (PHYS 1501/L or PHYS 1506)
    • Kinesiology or Biomechanics (KSS 3720/L)
    • Exercise Physiology (KSS 3710)
    • General Psychology (PSYC 1506)
    • Normal Nutrition (FNUT 1551)
    • Statistics (KSS 3705 or equivalent)
  • Materials to be submitted as supplemental materials (through online application portal):
    • Application Form
    • Three Applicant Recommendation Forms (one must be from a faculty member)
    • A resume or curriculum vitae
    • Proof of 50 hrs of athletic training observation
    • A personal statement (2 pg maximum) of professional and educational goals to address the following:
      • What are your short- and long-term goals (i.e., education, training, work setting, etc.)
      • Discuss personal and professional influences that led you to want to become an athletic trainer and graduate student.
    • Academic Transcript
  • Application & supplemental materials must be submitted online by April 15th (international students must apply by February 1st )
  • Be admitted to the University Graduate School
