Location

Youngstown State University is located in the city of Youngstown; halfway between Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA.  Within walking distance from campus, the downtown area of Youngstown has recently undergone a major revitalization and now offers a wide variety of attractions, outdoor recreation, arts and culture, and special events that you and your group will find exciting.

Looking to experience world-class art? Visit the world-renown Butler Art Institute on YSU’s very own campus. Also on YSU’s campus, stop by the Ward Beecher Planetarium for an informative show or check out the Clarence R. Smith Mineral Museum in the Moser Building. Would your group like some outdoor time? They will love exploring the 2nd largest metropolitan park in the country, Mill Creek MetroParks!  Rich in history, Youngstown is home to museums & historic sites, and features many popular summer festivals, concerts, and youth-friendly events.

The Historic Butler Art Museum of American Art was the first of its kind and is world renowned. With artists featured from Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock, to Norman Rockwell and former Cleveland Indians player Omar Vizquel, there will be a piece here that everyone will enjoy!

The John J. McDonough Museum of Art is located directly across from the Butler and features modern and contemporary art made by local artist and YSU students. This building also holds classes for art education.
 
Lake View in Mill Creek Park
With 15 miles of foot trails, 20 miles of drives, as well as lakes and waterfalls, Mill Creek Park is a gem within the city of Youngstown. Stop by and tour around Lanterman’s Mill to learn of the history of the park and Mill itself. This park also features kayaks, paddle boats, a rose garden, and a view of the city.

Ward Beecher Planetarium

What services can we provide groups?

Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center

Andrews Student Recreation and Wellness Center is a 100,000sq ft. facility located right here on campus. The Rec Center offers all types of cardio and weight lifting machines, as well as free weights and exercise classes. You can purchase day passes, week passes, and even team-building events, which can incorporate high ropes course, rock wall, and other fun activities for everyone attending your event.

The Rec Center offers an indoor track, basketball courts, and high ropes
The Rec Center offers a 1/8th of a mile long indoor track, 4 basketball courts and a high-ropes course for team-building events!

Dining Services

Dining Services provided by Chartwells offers cafeteria style meals located at the Christman Dining Commons on the north end of campus, as well as catered meals. Meals offered include breakfast, continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snack options.

Department of Housing

The Department of Housing offers residence hall style rooms and apartment style rooms to accommodate individuals attending your event. The Department of Housing also offers linens to make your groups’ stay here comfortable and relaxing.

Cafaro Housing Option
Cafaro House is a residence hall on the north end of campus, which features 2-room, 4-room, and 9-room suites, all of which have common areas to relax after your event.
 
Wick and Weller Housing Options
Weller House is apartment style housing, while Wick House is a historic mansion converted to residence style rooms to accommodate students and event attendees alike. However, limited spaces are available so if you would like housing in one of these buildings be sure to book quickly.
 
Kilcalwey Housing Option
Kilcawley House is a Residence Hall right in the heart of campus your attendees could stay in and be close to it all.
 
Lyden Housing Option
Located on the north end of campus next to Cafaro House, Lyden House is another Residence Hall your attendees could call home throughout your Summer Event.

 

Kilcawley Center

Kilcawley Center offers a multitude of rooms, which can be tailored to your liking to help your event be just as you imagine.
