Graduating Seniors

You're almost there! You know the school, your major, and are planning to start classes in the fall. Here are some tips to make that transition as easy as possible!

Penguin bound?

Welcome! As the newest Penguin to the YSU family here are some tips to make your transition to campus a smooth one.

  • Make sure you check that you are a current YSU student when you complete the Undergraduate Admission application online select the "New Freshman" option to apply. If you have completed at least one CCP course at YSU, you will not have to pay the $45 YSU application fee. When it asks if you have attended college before, check YES and fill in the information for YSU and any other colleges you have attended while in College Credit Plus.
  • Complete your FAFSA online by December 1 to receive maximum financial aid consideration!
  • Apply for scholarships! At YSU, you are considered a NEW FRESHMAN APPLICANT (regardless of how many hours you completed in CCP). This means you are eligible to apply for all incoming freshman scholarships, including the Honors College Scholarships.
  • Request an updated copy of your final high school transcripts, and any college transcripts other than YSU are sent to the YSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Remember, an official transcript must come directly from your high school and or college to YSU!

Heading away from home?

Your courses are transferable to any state university or community college in Ohio!

Coming home for the summer?

Do you know that you can take a summer course and transfer it back to your college or university? At YSU, it's called "transient student" status. Check with your academic advisor on what classes are approved for your school. Call the YSU Admissions Office at 330-941-2000 for more information.
