School year kicks off with full slate of Welcome Week activities

Kickball, pizza, Elvis, IGNITE, puppies and the annual Block Party are among the highlights of Welcome Week as thousands of students return to Youngstown State University for the start of the 2016-17 academic year.

Business college names director of Career Management

Christina Costello of Austintown, Ohio, has been hired as the director of the Center of Career Management in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University.

Costello will lead all aspects of career development, professional development, placement and the internship and cooperative education for undergraduate and graduate students in the WCBA.

The Center for Career Management will focus on activities, programs and services with the career management continuum of our undergraduate and graduate students.

"Meet the Marching Pride" Aug. 27 in Stambaugh Stadium

Get in the Penguin spirit at the annual “Meet the Marching Pride” celebration 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in Stambaugh Stadium on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The event that features performances by the YSU Marking Pride band is free and open to the public, although a free-will donation to support the band will be accepted and band tee shirts will also be for sale.

The Marching Pride will preview the music it will perform during Penguin football games this fall.

BCHHS Facilities

Cushwa Hall

Opened in 1976, this structure houses the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, as well as Media and Academic Computing, Janitorial Services, and the Peace Officer Training Academy. One of the largest buildings on campus, it contains 23 classrooms, 43 laboratories, 177 offices, and two lecture halls. In summer of 2013, the building underwent a $2.2 million renovation.
