What You'll Study
The Master of Music degree offers exceptional advanced training for performers, educators, composers, and scholars. As a Master’s student in the Dana School of Music (DSM), you’ll receive individualized instruction that focuses on your professional development and unique career goals. You’ll work with our internationally recognized faculty to develop advanced competencies and have opportunities to diversify your portfolio with elective courses and specializations across other areas that are relevant to your field.
DSM offers M.M. programs in Music Performance and Music Education. Our Music Performance degree includes an intensive applied curriculum that supports students' development as artists and teachers and prepares them for their professional careers. Students have multiple opportunities to perform professionally and may also take classes in audio and music production, composition and songwriting, jazz, musical theatre, and more. Our Music Education degree is 100% online and is structured for busy music educators like you, with highly flexible avenues for completion (e.g., within one year or as your schedule allows). Our M.M. degrees will further your success and prepare you for meaningful careers around the globe.
Performance Opportunities Abound
Our ensembles, both large and small, have a long history of musical excellence and provide students with real-world preparation. From the traditional to the experimental, we offer a rich diversity of performance experiences. The breadth of our ensemble offerings enable our students to experience a wide range of musical genres and styles. You'll gain valuable experience, both in performing and in collaborating with others.
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate merit-based awards include graduate assistantships and fellowships and are highly competitive. These positions cover tuition costs, provide a cash stipend, and enable students to gain invaluable experience in teaching or in performing other duties within their department.
