The YESS Institute

What is the YESS Institute? 

The YESS Institute stands for Youngstown State University Enrichment Summer Scholastic Institute. The YESS Institute hosted by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, is an academic readiness program that takes place each summer on YSU's campus. The summer program's purpose is to assist students with the transition from high school to college and is geared toward first-year YSU students who identify as one of the following: first-generation, low-income, marginalized, and /or underrepresented(minority).

The YESS Institute will kick off with three virtual sessions set for Sunday, July 21, 2024 -Tuesday, July 23, 2024. This will be followed by two weeks of on-campus programming for Sunday, July 28, 2024 - Monday, August 12, 2024.

The YESS institute is FREE and  offers you the opportunity to:

Develop intellectual, interpersonal, technological, and knowledge of academic resources available on campus.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Create an academic plan and social network of support while getting acclimated to the YSU campus.

Connect with a mentor in programs such as A.I.M & NAVARRO Executive fellows, supporting you throughout the academic year, promoting belonging and inclusion, and much more!
