Part-Time Faculty Hiring Procedures

  • Requisition
    • Hiring Authority posts positions in PeopleAdmin by creating a posting from the Part-Time Faculty template and forwarding to the Administrative Approver once it's completed.
    • The Administrative Approver forwards the posting to Budget for review. The requisition then moves to Compensation to ensure the proper funding for the position is available. Once approved by Compensation, signature approvals are obtained from the Division Officer and the President.
  • Job Posting
    • Once the posting is reviewed and approved , the job posting will be finalized by Human Resources in the applicant tracking system.
    • Additional advertisement paid by the department if requested is coordinated in Human Resources.

  • Search Committee
    • The search committee is formed. Search Committee members are required to complete the Search Committee Training and renew their certificate on an annual basis.
    • The search committee reviews applicants based on established criteria, EEO analyzes all applicants, conducts interviews to narrow the applicant pool and forwards the top candidates to the hiring authority for review and selection.

  • Hiring Authority Interview
    • The Hiring Authority then interviews the top candidates provided by the search committee and selects the successful candidate.

  • EEO/AA Review
    • The Office of Equal Opportunity and Policy Development will be notified in PeopleAdmin for approval of the successful candidate
  • Appointment Recommendation
    • The Hiring Manager will kick off the hiring proposal in PeopleAdmin.
    • The Hiring Proposal will be circulated for the appropriate approvals, i.e. Administrative Superior, Dean, Provost, appropriate VP or AVP, and President.

    Instructions and Workflows:

  • Offer Extended
    • The Department will contact the candidate to extend the offer. All offers are contingent on a completed background check performed by HR.
    • The background check form is sent to the candidate through an email from Employment@ysu.edu.
    • The candidate will upload the form through our secure document upload, https://ysd.ysu.edu/humanresources.
  • Offer Acceptance
    • Candidate is provided an initial start date by the department.
    • The candidate will receive a date and time for an orientation prior to the start of the semester.
    • An I-9 appointment must be scheduled on or before the first day worked. To schedule an appointment, call Cindy Blevin at ext. 2106.
