IT Governance Areas

IT Executive Steering Council (ITESC)

  • The IT Executive Steering Council (ITESC) is the ultimate decision-making body for all ITS planning, prioritizing and implementing IT-enabled initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of the university’s services to students, faculty, staff and the community.

IT Steering Committee (ITSC)

  • The IT Steering Committee (ITSC) provides guidance and oversight in planning, prioritizing and implementing IT-enabled initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of the university’s services to students, faculty, staff and the community.

Academic Senate Technology Committee (ASTC)

  • Educate non-I.T. executive leaders regarding the current and future I.T. trends in Higher Education
  • Provides an avenue for internal (faculty) and external (students) academic customers and the University community to influence the allocation of technology resources and provide input and guidance on technology initiatives
  • Assesses priorities and makes recommendations for ITS services with particular influence over ITS Customer Services efforts
  • Assess new classroom and student applications/technologies and prepare business cases in the form of TCO/ROI for review
  • Make policy recommendation to the Academic Senate concerning faculty and student use of, acquisition of, and accessibility to instructional and research technologies

Enterprise Applications Advisory Committee (EAAC)

  • The Enterprise Applications Advisory Committee (EAAC) is a cross functional governance committee consisting of leaders from the functional areas and ITS (Information Technology Services) whose purpose is to share, review, and prioritize Enterprise applications and initiatives across the YSU campus. The EAAC team also makes software recommendations to the IT Steering Committee (ITSC) where the EACC chairperson also is a member. Areas represented include Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursar, Human Resources, Finance, Purchasing, Payroll, Training, Alumni, Academic Affairs, Student Success, Student Experience, Information Technology Services, International, Marketing and Communications.
  • The Blackboard Functional Committee (BFC) serves as a working team to discuss learning management initiatives, training, processes and tools This is a cross-functional team comprised of Cyber Learning, Academic Continuity Team, Faculty and IT.

Business Operating Advisory Committee (BOAC)

  • The Business Operating Advisory Committee (BOAC) is a cross functional governance committee consisting of functional and technical representatives whose utilization and maintenance of the University’s ERP software and its data is integral to each area’s core business operation. These representatives are aligned with one or more system-supported areas, including Academic Affairs, Admissions, Alumni & Events, Faculty, Athletics, Finance, Financial Aid, Graduate Studies, Human Resources, International Programs, Institutional Research, Marketing and Communications (portal), Payroll, Registration & Records, Student Accounts, Student Success/Advising, IT Applications Services team, Database Administrators, and Training.

Security and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC)

  • The Security and Policy Advisory Committee (SPAC) provides information, guidance, and oversight on current and future trends within higher education regarding policies, technologies, and practices as they relate to information security in an effort to deliver integrity, availability, and confidentiality to the University. The Committee will review and recommend the approval of user policies and technology relating to, or affecting the information security posture of the University. Additionally, the Committee will assess new security technologies, and prepare business cases in the form of Total Cost of Ownership/Return on Investment for review.

Technology Advisory Committee (TAC)

  • The Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) committee is a subcommittee of the IT Steering Committee (ITSC) in support of providing guidance and oversight in planning, prioritizing and implementing IT-enabled initiatives. TAC supports ITSC’s goals to improve the quality and efficiency of the university’s services to students, faculty, staff and the community. Specifically, the TAC committee will review and prioritize technology initiatives as well as assess new technologies and prepare business cases in the form of TCO/ROI for review by ITSC and ITESC.
