CCP instructors are typically experienced teachers and lifelong learners committed to staying current with pedagogy and content through reading and ongoing professional development. They are energetic and committed to challenging both themselves and their students. CCP teachers value participation in a vibrant community of learners. Instructors participating in the YSU CCP program could be eligible for paid part-time teaching and workshop opportunities available on campus.
University academic departments define requirements for teacher qualifications; requirements differ from department to department. Additional preparation may be required before teaching the YSU CCP course, as defined by the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission. Effective fall 2017, an instructor must have a master's degree AND 18 hours of graduate content completed in the subject area he/she wishes to teach (i.e. Biology, Chemistry, History, Political Science, etc.). The 18 hours can be embedded in, or in addition to, the master's degree.
