WCBA earns national career readiness award

awardThe Williamson College of Business has been recognized as one of the Top 5 “Career Ready” Business Schools in the nation in the first ever “Career Readiness Leader & Innovator Awards.”

The award, presented by SkillSurvey, the leading provider of talent intelligence and career readiness solutions, recognize colleges and universities who have taken the lead to measure students’ career readiness in the competency areas that employers value most.

More than 170 higher education institutions have used SkillSurvey’s platform to evaluate students following an internship, co-op or other work-related experience. Students are rated by supervisors on 30 behaviors tied to leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, professionalism, communications, career management, equity and inclusion, and technology.

“SkillSurvey is a great addition to our internship program where we receive valuable insights on how our students are performing within the workplace based on eight key competencies,” said Christina O’Connell, director of the WCBA Center of Career Management. “The WCBA Center for Career Management hosts numerous professional development programs each semester to help prepare students for their professional experience as well as work alongside faculty to ensure the career readiness of our students.”

The awards highlight top performing institutions with the highest-rated students and top innovators that are excelling at promoting and marketing their Career Readiness programs to their students. Students at the top performing institutions received the highest evaluator ratings from over 60,000 supervisors and over 20,000 employers.

“The faculty and staff of the WCBA continually develop programs and opportunities that prepare our students to meet the needs of employers,” said Betty Jo Licata, WCBA dean. “The SkillSurvey intern evaluations highlight the strong performance of our business students in demonstrating these career-ready competencies.”
