Top rated jazz artist performs Jan. 31
Jazz artist Kate Reid, whose latest recording was named 2019 Top Rated Album of the Year by Downbeat magazine, performs 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in Bliss Hall’s Ford Theater on the campus of Youngstown State University.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for YSU faculty and staff, students from other schools and senior citizens. YSU student tickets are free. Tickets are available in advance at www.ysu.tix.com or the night of the event at the University Theatre Box Office. Parking is available in the M30 Wick Avenue deck for a nominal fee. Reid, a Northeast Ohio native, will perform songs from The Great American Songbook. She is associate professor of jazz voice in the Studio Music and Jazz department and director of Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music. Reid, whose newest album is “The Heart Only Knows appears as a duo and with her trio and quartet at jazz venues in the Los Angeles and Miami areas. She is a featured performer presented by the Miami Jazz Co-op, and has worked with many of the great jazz musicians in southern California. She is also a working studio/session singer in Los Angeles. Film credits include Tinkerbell: Legend of the Neverbeast, Planes, Star Trek Into Darkness, Oz-The Great and Powerful, Epic and Men In Black III.
