Arthur Daly, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer
Eastern Gateway Community College

Arthur Daly joined Eastern Gateway Community College in November 2016 as the Director of Career Development overseeing both Steubenville and Youngstown campuses. In May of 2017, became the Dean of the Youngstown campus overseeing recruitment, enrollment, and the overall operation of the Youngstown Campus. In May of 2018, became the Vice President of the Youngstown campus overseeing all operations of the campus. He currently is a Board Member of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana Workforce Development Boards and serves on the youth committee and the Ohio Means Jobs committee in Trumbull County. Mr. Daly also is a Board Member of the Virtual Valley Remote Learning Academy. 

At Eastern Gateway Community College, Mr. Daly continues to build strategic relationships to grow the college’s workforce partnerships. The WorkAdvance program continues to be a great success on how true collaboration looks to create a modern workforce. Eastern Gateway Community College, the MVMC, Nordson Corporation, Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries and Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Program partner in the WorkAdvance program for machining. It has been a truly successful partnership to help build the pipeline to meet our workforce needs.

Prior to coming to EGCC, he spent the last 15 years in career development, recruitment and management in the educational industry. He also managed educational career development departments at several technical colleges in Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.

Mr. Daly graduated with an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and gained his MBA through Southern New Hampshire University in Quantitative Analysis and International Business.  

 

Barbara Ewing, CEO
Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI)

Barbara Ewing is CEO for the Youngstown Business Incubator, an economic development catalyst that supports technology startups, small business development and the adoption of advanced manufacturing in northeast Ohio.  Ewing was instrumental in bringing America Makes, the national accelerator for AM, to Youngstown in 2012, and led the redevelopment of a 65,000 sf facility focused on high end AM equipment and companies. Under her leadership, YBI has also developed a suite of services to support manufacturers in the adoption of AM in areas like metal casting, low volume tooling and direct part production. She is one of the founding partners of the Northeast Ohio Additive Manufacturing Cluster. YBI is part of the JumpStart Entrepreneurial Services Network, supporting digital and additive manufacturing startups across the 21 counties of northeast Ohio.  In 2017, YBI was established as the Minority Business Assistance Center in the region and has since grown its staff to 8 FTE counselors who work with minority, veteran, women, and youth owned businesses. 

 

Teresa Hegarty,Global Engineering Manager CS & EDS ADP, Innovation, Planning and Strategy
Aptiv

Teresa Hegarty started her engineering career in industrial combustion and automation with Olsträd Engineering Corp., designing and installing specialized equipment for companies like Republic Steel, Vallourec Starr, Nucor Steel, Chrysler Castings and General Motors. In 2017 she joined Aptiv as a product engineer in the Connection Systems (CS) Housings group. Teresa later moved into a global role focused on innovation, strategy, and planning. She is now a Global Engineering Manager for two divisions - both CS and the EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) – and is focused on leading and aligning innovation developments, strategies, teams, and processes for both. Additionally, Teresa represented Aptiv as an ambassador at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2022 and 2023.

Teresa holds a Bachelors of Engineering (Mechanical) and Masters of Business Administration from Youngstown State University. Her passions include global travel, music, camping, and cooking. She is also passionate about encouraging the next generation of STEM students and believes it is important to “be the role model that you wish you had”. She has been a Professional Advisor for YSU’s Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and was the featured speaker at YSU’s Society of Women Engineers “Dinner with Industry”. She has also supported the college’s Women in STEM Career Day as a panelist.

 

Alex Hertzer, Senior Project Manager
Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition (MVMC)

Alex Hertzer is the Senior Project Manager of the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition as of late 2021. He was born and raised in the City of Warren in Trumbull County and is now raising two children alongside his wife in Canfield. The Mahoning Valley is not only his home but also his passion. He strives to help build the local economy by narrowing the workforce development gaps in the Mahoning Valley. In his previous role he led the largest light gauge roll-forming facility in the nation. Through that experience he learned the value of a career in manufacturing. Since joining the MVMC he has worked to help local manufacturers build their workforce through programs like apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and WorkAdvance. These are just a few examples of how Alex and the MVMC are bringing together community and educational partners to increase the talent pipeline into local manufacturing.

 

Corey Jarvis, Founder/CEO
Trumbull Foundry and Alloy

Corey Jarvis is the President/CEO/Founder of Trumbull Foundry and Alloy, Inc. in Niles, OH.  He is also the President/CEO/Founder of Jarvie Performance Castings in Niles, OH and currently holds a position on the Penn State Cast Metals Industrial Advisory Board.

Corey’s has almost 30 years of foundry and metal casting experience which started with his previous positions as Program Manager at Penn State Metal Casting - Department of Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering and General Manager of Wellsville Foundry Company.

Corey was a Trustee for the Foundry Education Foundation from 2001 to 2023 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Kent State University. He also recieved a Masters of Industrial Education from Pennsylvania State University.

 

Adam Kemp Vice President of Engineering
Haltec Corporation

Adam Kemp is Vice President of Engineering at Haltec Corporation in Leetonia, OH.  He has 28 years’ experience in various industries: including automotive, plastics, metal cutting/assembly and primary metals.  He has experience in the areas of product development, manufacturing engineering, and operations excellence in various technical and leadership roles. 

He was born and raised in Youngstown and his family currently lives in the Boardman/Canfield area.  Adam and his wife Stephanie have been married for 27 years and have 3 children; Brooke who is a recent Youngstown State University graduate, Brandon who is a Canfield HS graduate, and Dylan who is a junior at Canfield HS.

Adam is also a proud YSU Alumni, having received both his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Youngstown State University.  He also received his Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University.

Mark Lamoncha, President, CEO
Humtown Products

Mark Lamoncha is an award-winning entrepreneur, inventor, author, and community leader. For more than four decades, he has been the president, CEO (Christ Empowered Owner), and head coach of the Humtown Products team. His company has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and CNBC. It continues to be visited by institutions such as MIT and the Fraunhofer Institute for its innovative, cutting-edge solutions. He and his company Humtown Products have become a national additive manufacturing pioneer by providing 3D sand printing while creating disruptive innovation in the foundry industry. This has created partnerships with organizations such as SBDC, Youngstown Business Incubator, America Makes, and Youngstown State University.

Mr. Lamoncha invented the Visual Earnings System™ (VES) that helped his company win the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) 2020 Manufacturer of the Year alongside IBM, General Motors, and Peterbilt. He also has numerous patents that contribute to unleashing human potential.

Mr. Lamoncha is the author of the Industrial Athlete Operating System, which provides a game plan for organizations to transform their workplace into a performance place.

As a community leader, he focuses on education and charitable giving. He was appointed as a member of the Ohio Department of Education State School Board during the term of Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Commodores. With a passion for career coaching, he spearheads integrating public education with business manufacturing. He also serves on various boards and committees throughout the state of Ohio.

Born and raised in Columbiana, Ohio, Mr. Lamoncha and his wife, Sheri, have 3 sons (Brandon, Brenten, and Bronson) and are members of Greenford Christian Church. He is a graduate of Life as Servant Leader and ministers to the people he is blessed to serve at his company daily.

Mark is responsible for the overall administration of the Humtown corporation. Humtown contributes to manufacturing parts and equipment used in diverse industries, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, mining, national defense, public utilities, and transportation.

DR. Frank X. Li, Professor, Director of the Rayen School of Engineering
Youngstown State University

Dr. Frank X. Li received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State University, a master of science degree from Youngstown State University, and his Ph.D. from the Case Western Reserve University in 1996, 1999, and 2005 respectively. Dr. Li joined Youngstown State University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in August 2006, after serving the ferrous and non-ferrous metal industry for eleven years. Dr. Li advanced in academic rank to Associate Professor and Professor in 2011 and 2016 respectively. In 2019, Dr. Li was elected as the Chairperson of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.  Since 2020, Dr. Li serves as the Director of the Rayen School of Engineering at Youngstown State University.

 

Marvin L. Logan, Jr., Executive Director
OH WOW!

Marvin Logan is the President & Executive Director of the OH WOW! Center for Science & Technology in Youngstown, OH, an organization devoted to providing colorful, creative, and engaging supplemental STEM education experiences that development innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in youth.

Prior to serving in his new role, he was the Director of Programming for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan where his duties included leading the Ponyride business incubator, STEM, and youth leadership development programming.

Marvin is an award-winning nonprofit professional that has served youth across the globe with organizations such as Inspiring Minds, and Usher’s New Look. His areas of expertise are Strategic Planning, Program & Resource Development, Community & Economic Development, and Equity & Inclusion.

He holds a BA from Kent State University and a Master’s of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He is a proud member of the Gamma Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is married to the love of his life Mrs. Telayne Keith of Akron.

 

Jeffrey M. Magada, Founder and Executive Director
Flying HIGH Inc.

Jeffrey M. Magada is the founder of Flying HIGH Inc. and has served as its Executive Director since its incorporation in 1994. Throughout his career, Jeff’s mission has been to help people develop their potential and discover their destiny. That mission has become a reality through the cultivation of programs that have provided thousands of individuals with opportunities to make their lives better by developing themselves and advancing economically. Jeff has authored grants that have harnessed over $14 million in federal and state funds for the Mahoning Valley. He is the recipient of the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber’s 2022 Non-Profit Professional of the Year, Mahoning County Mental Health & Recovery Board’s 2022 Program of the Year Award, A.C.T.I.O.N.’s Frances Kerpsack 2019 Humanitarian Award, and numerous proclamations from federal, state, and local government officials recognizing the milestones in his career and the evolution of Flying HIGH Inc.

 

Gabe McCready, President of Operations
Integrated Systems Technologies (IST)

Gabe McCready has spent the first 7 years of his professional career consulting and working alongside education institutions to develop industry backed engineering, manufacturing, robotics, and automation training programs. By working with local manufacturing employers, education entities, state workforce boards, and automation equipment builders, he has developed a unique perspective and knowledge base on how to connect education and industry to ensure education and training programs produce high skilled individuals ready to work in the manufacturing / automation workforce sector. Outside of IST, Gabe enjoys working on his family farm and camping.

 

Jennifer Merritt, Superintendent
Mahoning Valley Community School

Dr. Jennifer Merritt is the Superintendent of the Mahoning Valley Community School, a community learning center school in Youngstown, Ohio. She has provided leadership to the school for fifteen years. Prior to that, she worked for the Virginia Department of Education's Training and Technical Assistance Center at Radford University as a Project Coordinator where her work focused on self-advocacy and transition coordination for students with disabilities. She began her teaching career as a special education teacher with the Montgomery County Public Schools in Christiansburg, Virginia. Ms. Merritt holds a Psy.D in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in trauma and youth violence research and a Master of Science in Special Education from Radford University in Virginia. She is committed to expanding the community learning center model for youth in Youngstown to improve education and outcomes through connecting the school and community. 

 

Julie Needs, Executive Director,
Sustainable Opportunity Center (SOD Center)

Julie Needs is the Executive Director of the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center (SOD Center) in Salem, Ohio. The SOD Center is an Economic Development non-profit organization focused on facilitating growth to advance economic vitality and improve the quality of life for Salem residents by promoting Workforce Development, Business Development & Entrepreneurial Support, Business Retention & Expansion, and Downtown Revitalization.

Julie joined The SOD Center in February 2018 after a 24-year career in the financial industry working throughout Western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio. Her strategic management and extensive experience in the business world has assisted in growing The SOD Center Organization and expanding economic development in the region. In 2021, Julie earned the Ohio Certified Economic Developer credential, placing her among the top economic developers in Ohio.

Julie is married with one daughter and resides in Poland.

 

Michael O’Donnell, Vice President, Operations
MAGNET

Michael O’Donnell has 30 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing consulting, with most of that time spent at MAGNET. A Master Six Sigma Black Belt and licensed Professional Engineer, Michael orchestrates new consulting methods in technology, transformation, innovation and employee and team development for manufacturers in NEOhio. Prior to MAGNET, Michael held positions in R&D, management, manufacturing operations and Lean and continuous improvement in a variety of industries including automotive, consumer products and chemicals. His experience includes industry 4.0, automation, assembly, chemicals, polymers (molding, fibers and films) and steel processing. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Richmond.

 

Andrew Pegher, Account Manager & Smart Manufacturing Business Advisor
Rockwell Automation

After graduating from Penn State with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Andrew has spent the last 18 years helping manufacturers and machine builders leverage technology to solve critical business challenges. In his current role as an Account Manager & Smart Manufacturing Business Advisor, Andrew works with manufacturers and machine builders to challenge the status quo, reimagine the future of their business, develop technology roadmaps, and adapt to the ever-changing manufacturing environment.

Andrew also serves as a board member on Rockwell Automation’s global Parents & Caretakers Employee Resource Group. He believes that people are the core of every business, and that manufacturers thrive when they create an environment where their people can and want to do their best work.

 

Joe Rich, Chief Commercial Officer
 

Joe Rich is currently the Chief Commercial Officer at Solve Industrial Motion Group. Joe has spent over 20 years in the Industrial Automation and Information industry leading global sales, marketing, and service organizations.  A native of Massillon, Ohio, Joe earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering and MBA in Finance at The University of Akron. He chose Industrial Automation for a career because his goal is to help manufacturers make locally and compete globally.  Joe has been involved with Youngstown State University since 2016 and is excited to work more closely with the Excellence Training Center.

 

Adam Sarson, President
Warren Design and Build (WDB)

Adam Sarson is the owner/founder of Warren Design & Build (WDB).  WDB is an automation design firm and machining/fabrication shop with locations in Warren OH, Pittsburgh PA and McKees Rocks PA. WDB was founded in 2014.

Adam's background is 20 years with Sherwin Williams Paint (formerly Valspar) with assignments in California, Oxford England, Zurich Switzerland and Singapore.

He currently resides in Sewickley PA with his wife Suzanne, who is an HR professional for CJL Engineering. His educational background is an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and an MBA from Cal, Berkeley.

His hobbies are golf and watching his son's basketball.

 

Alexander Steeb, Operations Director
America Makes

As the Operations Director, Alexander leads and coordinates the efforts of the America Makes Operations Team including membership, strategic communications, events, projects portfolio, and office management, in executing the terms of the latest Cooperative Agreement and overseeing all of its associated requirements.

Before joining NCDMM in February 2020, Alexander served as the vice president of operations for Altronic, LLC, a leading manufacturer of ignition and control systems for industrial engines, and a HOERBIGER Group company. In this capacity, he was responsible for the overall operations function and most recently, led the development and execution of a comprehensive operations roadmap. Prior to that, Alexander served as the global head of controlling for HOERBIGER Business Area Engine Solutions and led finance and controlling teams in the U.S., Austria, and Sweden. He started his career at Altronic as a reporting manager, playing an integral role during HOERBIGER’s acquisition of Altronic.

Alexander earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Engineering from the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe, Germany, and has completed numerous leadership and operations management courses during his tenure with HOERBIGER.

 

Dr. Gregg Sturrus, Professor, YSU - Physics, Astronomy, Geology & Environmental Sciences
Youngstown State University

William Gregory Sturrus was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, graduated from Jenison High School, and lived in western Michigan through his years in college. He graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan with a degree in physics and mathematics and continued his education by attending graduate school in atomic physics at the University of Notre Dame. He became a postdoctoral associate at the University of Virginia working there for almost 3 years before being hired at Youngstown State University in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in 1991. His two daughters graduated from YSU, one now works as a registered nurse in Columbus, and the other as a CPA in Liberty, Ohio. His research interests are studying the excitation of atoms, ions, and nanoparticles using laser and radiofrequency radiation.

 

John Zehentbauer, Superintendent,
Mahoning County Career & Technical Center (MCCTC)

John Zehentbauer has been with the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center since 1991.  He taught Aviation Maintenance Technology until 1999.  He then served as Career Technical Supervisor from 2000 until 2006 when he moved into the Director position.  In 2014 Mr. Zehentbauer became MCCTC’s Assistant Superintendent and has been serving as the school district’s Superintendent since 2018.  He earned his BS and Masters at Kent State University where he is also an adjunct professor.  He and his wife MaryBeth have 3 children, Brian, Ashley and Emily, and 5 grandchildren.

Christian Febinger, Student Employee
YSU Division of Workforce Education

Christian Febinger is a Finance Major currently working at the Division of Workforce Education and Innovation as the finance assistant. His first internship was at Halls Management group in Charleston, South Carolina as an accounting intern. He serves as the Treasurer for the International Business Organization on campus and was selected to the Ohio Export Internship program for the upcoming summer. He has a passion for travelling, and international business.

 

Clayton Ketterer, Student Employee
The Excellence Training Center

Clayton Ketterer is a junior at YSU majoring in Mechanical Engineering and has been working as a Lab Assistant at the Excellence Training Center since May 2022. After graduation, Clayton plans to pursue a career in Additive Manufacturing in the Aerospace industry.
