
Bio:
Audio Engineer Jim Metzendorf performed with the YSU Jazz Ensembles from 1993-1995 and is a graduate of Youngstown State University. He specializes as a producer and editor within the podcast industry, and previously worked in training and education for Avid Technology; the leading manufacturer of digital audio workstations. His podcast work receives in excess of one million downloads per month.
He has recorded and/or mixed music and television projects for artists such as: Ernie Krivda (‘Requiem for a Jazz Lady’), Hal Galper/Jerry Bergonzi (‘Cubist’), Kent Engelhardt/Steve Enos (‘Madd for Tadd’), The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, the W.D. Packard Concert Band, and others. He’s composed incidental music for a variety of podcasts and provided voiceovers for television and radio broadcast.
As an educator, he has taught courses in audio production at Full Sail University, Cuyahoga Community College, and Youngstown State University. While at Avid, he presented seminars on the use of their flagship audio product, Pro Tools, at locations throughout the United States and Canada.
Jim is also a published writer within the technology world, including his publication the “The Professional’s Guide to Audio Podcast Production”. He’s also experienced as a video producer and still photographer, having photographed professional sports, news, and presidential campaign stops for a variety of clients.
Jim performs regularly in Ohio and Pennsylvania on saxophone and clarinet. In 2015, he traveled to the Montreal Jazz Festival as a member the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra for an epic “battle of the bands” along with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. He’s also played with the Skatch Anderssen Orchestra, Kay Starr, Ernie Krivda and the Fat Tuesday Big Band, The Zolkas, Big Band Sound of Packard, First Class, and many others.
