School Nurse Licensure

We are no longer accepting admissions for the School Nurse licensure certificate.

The School Nurse Licensure program is designed to build on an undergraduate education and to prepare registered nurses with a baccalaureate degree for school nurse licensure. Courses are taught by faculty in the Department of Nursing and in the Beeghly College of Education.

What You'll Study

This online program requires 15-17 semester credit hours including four courses plus 300 practicum hours (5 s.h. credit) in a school setting under the supervision of a licensed school nurse preceptor and a university faculty member. This practicum may be taken in increments to accommodate the working student. Opportunities for practicum hours to be waived (up to 200 hours) are considered on an individual basis for nurses with school nurse experience.  After completion of the courses, the student will be eligible for School Nurse Licensure through the Ohio Department of Education.
