Internal Funding Opportunities

The Office of Research Services offers the following Internal Funding Opportunities. These internal grants are designed to enrich the research, scholarship and creative arts projects experience of tenure and tenure-track faculty at Youngstown State University. More Information can be found on the Office of Research Services page on the Penguin Portal

  • Research Travel: The URC Research Travel Grant is intended to offset travel and lodging expenses of researcher’s activities. Examples of supported research activities include travel to libraries, archives, collections, or other research sites.
    • Eligibility: Tenure and tenure-track faculty
    • Maximum Award Amount: $1,500
  • Equipment Repair: The URC Equipment Repair Grant provides support to offset the costs of unanticipated repairs of research equipment to maintain research activities, when alternative equipment is otherwise unavailable.
    • Eligibility: Tenure and tenure-track faculty
    • Award Amount: $5,000 per application
  • Survey Research: The URC Survey Research Grant is intended to offset expenses related to survey research. Funds can be used for tools and platforms for data collection and analysis, incentives, travel to data collection sites, or mailing.
    • Eligibility: Tenure and tenure-track faculty
    • Award Amount: $3,000
  • Publication Cost: New, innovative projects from individual tenure-track faculty members that are targeted for submission to a specific external funding agency within two years of the start of the funding and that will benefit from the acquisition of preliminary data.
    • Eligibility: Tenure and tenure-track faculty
    • Award Amount: up to $2,000
  • Seed Money: New, innovative projects from individual tenure-track faculty members that are targeted for submission to a specific external funding agency within two years of the start of the funding and that will benefit from the acquisition of preliminary data.
    • Eligibility: Tenure-track faculty (Assistant Professors)
    • Award Amount: $20,000
  • Research Advancement: New, innovative, creative projects from established faculty that are targeted for submission to a specific external funding agency within two years of the start of the funding.
    • Eligibility: Established faculty
    • Award Amount: $30,000
  • Collaborative Research: New, innovative, creative projects involving collaborations between arts, business, education, health sciences, humanities, social sciences, and STEM, that are targeted for submission to a specific external funding agency within two years of the start of the funding.
    • Eligibility: Lead PI – established faculty; Co-PI(s) – tenure and tenure-track faculty
    • Award Amount: $30,000
