1. Evidence of Sufficient Financial Resources
International students (F-1 or J-1 holders) are required to provide evidence of sufficient financial resources at least through the first year of studies. See the Financial Requirement page for detailed requirements. By doing that, students are required to provide the following documentation.
• Download YSU Affidavit Support Form for Undergraduate Study from the Financial Requirement page. Applicants and their financial sponsors (e.g. parent, or applicant self) must completely fill out, sign, scan, and upload this form to the application portal.
• Supporting financial documents.
If you are self-sponsored or will have a financial sponsor (family/friend), you must upload a copy of the official bank statement or a letter from the bank showing sufficient funds to support the applicant’s first year of study. Bank statements must be in English, clearly state the account holder’s name, currency and available balance and must be no more than 6 months old.
If you are sponsored by a government, agency, or organization, you must upload a copy of the official award letter addressed to Youngstown State University. The letter must state in U.S. dollars the amount awarded annually and provide complete billing instructions.
2. Create a shipping label for your acceptance and I-20 package shipment. Shipping label link and instructions are included in the admission decision E-mail.
Or, if you are currently in F-1 status and will be transferring your SEVIS record from another U.S. school/college/university, you must download the SEVIS Transfer-In Form for Students in the U.S. in F-1 Status and upload the signed form to your application portal to begin the SEVIS transfer process. In this case, do not pay any shipping label.
