Leave Without Pay During the Initial Probationary Period

Leave without pay (LWOP) may be available to a new hire eligible employee who has not accrued or is unable to use accrued leave balances but have scheduled absences.  Leave request(s) must be submitted one (1) month in advance of the beginning of the leave or at the earliest feasible time. 

All available paid leaves (i.e sick, personal from sick) must be exhausted prior to the LWOP commencing.   

Leave for Extended Serious Health Condition or Disability

OEA COLLECTIVE BARGAINING MEMBERS ONLY

Leave for Extended Serious Health Condition or Disability is for OEA member who requires leave for an extended serious health condition or disability whose absence exceeds the employees accrued leave and is not eligible for Family and Medical Leave (FML). 

Eligible employee maybe granted up to six (6) months and may be extended by increments of up to six (6) months to a total of one (1) year, unless required by law.  

Family Medical

ACE/FOP COLLECTIVE BARGAINING MEMBERS ONLY

 

Family Medical is the authorized absence for a bargaining unit member whose absence exceeds the employee's accrued leave and not eligible for Family and Medical Leave (FML). The employee may be granted leave without pay for up to twelve (12) weeks less any accrued sick, vacation or personal leave used, unless otherwise required by law.

Employee Medical

 ACE/FOP COLLECTIVE BARGAINING MEMBERS ONLY


Employee Medical is the authorized absence for ACE/FOP bargaining unit members whose absence exceeds the employees accrued leave and are not eligible for Family and Medical Leave (FMLA). An employee may be granted Employee Medical without pay for up to twelve (12) weeks less any accrued sick, vacation or personal leave used, unless otherwise required by law.
