Dana presents "Winter Dusk" concert Dec. 1
The Dana School of Music Chamber Winds and YSU Wind Ensemble present “Winter Dusk,” a concert 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m. in Stambaugh Auditorium.
It is the final concert of the Fall semester for both groups. Tickets, available the night of the concert, are $6, $5 for senior citizens and children, and free for anyone with a valid YSU ID.
The concert opens with the Dana Chamber Winds performing Little Threepenney Music, a classic work by Kurt Weill.
The YSU Wind Ensemble performs Camille Saint-Saens' March Militaire Francaise, Steven Bryant’s Dusk, John Mackey's Harvest: Concerto for Trombone and Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music.
The soloist on Harvest is Dana trombone professor, John Sebastian Vera. Vera became the Principal Trombonist of the Pittsburgh Opera in 2010 and also joined the River City Brass as Principal Trombone in 2015. He also was a founding member of the critically acclaimed Guidonian Hand Trombone Quartet, in which he played from 2008-2014.
