John J. McDonough Museum of Art announces Fall Season opener: 'Legacy: 58 Years of YSU Art'
The John J. McDonough Museum of Art, Youngstown State University's Center of Contemporary Art, announces the opening of the 2024 Fall season with “Legacy: 58 Years of YSU Art,” to be on display September 3 – October 26.
The exhibition which includes projects by current and past Department of Art faculty and staff is an exploration of innovation and tradition that imparts new vision and re-investigates long-standing practices in the fields of art and design. A reception will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6 at the museum.
This exhibition’s artists not only share their knowledge and expertise with the next generation but also use their creative energies to maintain a high level of professional practice creating works that have been on display throughout the country. This exhibition is an opportunity for the YSU campus and local community to celebrate these visual artists who, for over fifty years have dedicated their talents to the Department of Art by helping to inspire the future of the arts in the region.
The artists included in this exhibition include Samuel Adu-Poku, Claudia Berlinski, Joy Christiansen Erb, Amy Copeland, Dragana Crnjak, Debra DeGregorio, Joseph D’Uva, Chauncey Hay, Ashley Johnston, Alyssa Keil, Russell Maddick, Missy McCormick, Christine McCullough, Richard Mitchell, Greg Moring, Michael Moseley, Michelle Nelson, John Guy Petruzzi, Stephanie Rhodes, Susan Russo, Dana Sperry and Amanda Spinosa.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The McDonough Museum galleries are open 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
