YSU-BaccMed Consortium
The YSU-BaccMed Program at Youngstown State University provides students with an enhanced pre-medical curriculum and access to potential early assurance to either Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) or Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). This program places a special emphasis on those interested in family medicine, general pediatrics, and general internal medicine; medically underserved communities; and research related to these medical disciplines and populations.
Benefits of the program include:
- Accelerated Biology and Biochemistry pathways
- Potential of early assurance* and preferential consideration at NEOMED or LECOM
- Additional support resources such as MCAT preparation workshops
- Learning alongside a cohort with similar aspirations for medical school
- Scholarship opportunities
*Once you are accepted into YSU-BaccMed, the team will guide you through the admission processes for early assurance/acceptance seats with our medical partners. Students typically apply for early assurance to LECOM in their senior year of high school or by their second year at YSU. Students typically apply for conditional admission to NEOMED in their second or third year at YSU.
