WCBA starts up annual tax prep campaign
New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Ground Hog Day, Valentine’s Day….Tax Day!
It's that time of year again, and YSU’s Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance is ready! The school is again this year offering free income tax preparation services via the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
VITA is available on the following Saturdays at the Williamson College of Business Administration on the YSU campus: Feb. 19 and 26, March 5, 19 and 26 and April 2.
Due to the pandemic, all services are available by appointment only by calling 330-941-2507. No walk-ins accepted. Masks required.
VITA provides free assistance to all taxpayers. Clients must provide wage and earnings statements (Form W-2) from all employers, interest statements from banks (Forms 1099), a copy of last year’s tax return if available, and other relevant information about income and expenses. Taxpayers also need to bring social security cards for all people on the tax return and a photo ID card. Taxpayers with complex returns may need to see an accountant.
In preparation for the VITA program, YSU business students and community volunteers complete more than 30 hours of training and pass IRS certifications. Students also have the opportunity to work with WCBA alumni with extensive backgrounds in tax preparation.
The Williamson College of Business Administration is located on 221 North Hazel Street between Rayen Avenue and Wood Street at the YSU campus.
