YSU STEM hosts National Manufacturing Day event Oct. 6
The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Youngstown State University hosts the 4th Annual National Manufacturing Day Celebration on campus Friday, Oct. 6.
National Manufacturing Day at YSU is a full day of events in celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers, all events are free and open to the public.
Events begin at 9 a.m. in the auditorium at the Williamson College of Business with welcoming remarks from YSU President Jim Tressel, a mayoral proclamation and a keynote address by Mitchell Joseph, founder and CEO of Joseph Company International, Inc.
Other activities include the 3D Printing Design Competition awards ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon and an Industry/Manufacturing Showcase and a Facility Open House with tours, both from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 3D Printing Design Competition features submissions from students, 13 years of age and older, of original designs for useful products that can ordinarily be purchased commercially, but that might be 3D printed at a competitive cost or with improvements to function or value. Winners of the two divisions, K-12 and post-secondary, will receive a New FlashForge Finder 3D Printer.

Manufacturing Day is an annual national event executed at the local level supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers.
