The primary focus of the occupational safety program is the elimination of accidents in the workplace which are caused by physical hazards. Staff from EHS inspect work areas to identify these hazards, and work closely with employees and department heads to eliminate the problem. Special emphasis is placed on power machinery in University shops and laboratories to assure that this equipment meets all safety standards. Attention is also placed on the operator to determine whether or not proper personal protective equipment is available and being properly worn during operation.
