Lab Safety Training

Safety is of central importance in laboratories at YSU. Ensuring a safe laboratory is the responsibility of everyone involved.
The EHS Department & College of STEM support a strongly proactive approach to safety concerns.

Prior to starting work, all new laboratory students must complete the assigned online safety training modules, read & acknowledge the relevant safety procedures and sign the appropriate forms.

Please contact ehs@ysu.edu with questions, or for more information regarding lab safety training.

Summary of requirements before beginning laboratory work:

The specific requirements for appropriate online and other training varies with the nature of the research you will be conducting (general laboratory, radiation, laser, etc.). The list below summarizes the steps required for all graduate and undergraduate students.

Before starting general laboratory work, all personnel must complete the online safety training modules assigned by EHS. Web-based training modules may be assigned in Blackboard and/or via the online training platform, Convergence.
